Kim Yong-Suk

Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to provide basic material for strategy to invigorate eye donation of the brain-dead.

Methods: Random sampling was conducted on students of Department of Optometry and general department of a university in Gyeongbuk-province. Subjects' knowledge, attitude and their difference on eye donation of the brain-dead were analyzed with mean, standard deviation and ANOVA while the relationship between subjects' knowledge and analysis on factors influencing practice intention of subjects on eye donation (of the brain-dead) were analyzed with logistic regression.

Results: Level of knowledge of students of Department of Optometry on eye donation was 11.05 points (range of score: 1~17), which was significantly higher than that (8.10 points) of students of general departments (t=4.72, p<0.001), and level of attitude of students of Department of Optometry on eye donation was 3.39 points (range of score: 1~5), which was also significantly higher than that (3.28 points) of students of general departments (t=2.80, p<0.01). As the result of regression
analysis on factors influencing practice intention of eye donation, subjects with good attitude had 1.08 times more practice intention of eye donation than those with bad attitude.

Conclusion: More practical and systematic education is required to enhance understanding on eye donation.
